What value is there to hiring a Professional Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service?
For dog walking there are the obvious health benefits. Depending on breed and age, dogs need daily exercise just like we do! Did you know that walking also provides joint, digestive and urinary tract health! Statistics show that 50% of dogs are overweight and 25% are considered obese. Obesity in dogs is a big problem, the same as in the human population. Whether your dog is a little heavy or very athletic, a good daily walk does a world of good.
If your dog suffers from separation anxiety having a sitter or walker come by during the day can reduce that anxiety and reduce boredom which can lead to some undesirable behaviors. Who wants to be home all day by themselves? I've had customers tell me directly they see a marked improvement in their pet's demeaner.
We offer Pet Visits and Overnight stays that allow for one-on-one companionship in the familiar environment of your pets own home. Many dogs that don't do well in kennels or perhaps you have dog(s) with lowered immune systems and are susceptible to virus or bacterial spread.
Are you insured?
Yes. We have liability insurance and are bonded through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Feel free to contact us and we will be glad to explain how this protects both parties.
How long is a standard mid-day walk?
Our standard mid-day walk service is available in 20-, 35-, and 50-minute intervals, Monday - Friday. Customized time frames can be created for your convenience. Please visit our Dog Walking Page for more information.
What happens if there is an emergency with my pet while in the care of WaggnTails Pet Care?
Our first responsibility is to the care and well-being of your pet(s). Depending on the symptoms and severity we will assess the situation and take any first aid measures that we can to stabilize the situation including contacting the ASPCA Hotline to get advice on best actions to take (fees may apply).
We will be in contact with the pet owner in route to the veterinarian; if we are unable to make contact, we will attempt the emergency contact listed on the Meet & Greet form. If we are unable to reach either party, we will take your pet to the veterinarian listed or to the listed emergency care facility after hours. This will most likely be Dogs & Cats Veterinary Referral & Emergency located in Bowie, MD. As per the Veterinary Form on file, you will be responsible for reimbursement of any costs incurred by WaggnTails Pet Care.
What is your inclement weather policy?
We do everything we can to maintain every appointment despite rain, sleet, or snow. However, there are limits, especially if the safety of our staff is a concern. In cases where we feel the weather will just be too bad to get to your home, we will contact you as soon as possible. If unable to reach you, we will contact your emergency contact. This is one reason why we suggest your emergency contact be someone within close proximity of your home.
What is your cancellation policy?
We are currently asking that you do your best to provide us 24 hours notice for cancellation for any reason.
What is your payment policy?
All services are billed in advance of service. Regular mid-day dog walking customers will be billed on the 1st and 15th of each month. A payment method is required to be on file at all times. For seasonal customers that use us "as needed" payment is due prior to the beginning of service - no payment method need remain on file. There are no refunds for unused services.

Why do you keep two sets of my house keys?
We need one set for the walker/sitter and one set to keep at the home office in case of emergency, such as lost keys, broken keys, etc.
Can you explain what "Memberships" are?
Memberships are prepaid commitments for mid-day walking service. You can contract with WaggnTails Pet Care to reserve a spot for your pet for daily walks at a reduced per walk rate. Memberships require a 2 month commitment and a minimum number of walks per week to maintain or gain additional discounts.
Do I have to commit to a membership contract?
Not at all. We offer a per-walk mid-day walking rate which is the rate you see on the website. Memberships work well when you have a set schedule and can commit to a multi-month contract. In this way we can make a commitment to provide a discounted rate per walk in exchange for the ongoing monthly business.
